Foley VIDEO: "If I Were One of those Sickos...

Sat Sep 30, 2006 at 03:22:08 PM PDT

...I'd be nervous with 'America's Most Wanted' on my trail..."

This is but one of Foley's many disturbed quotes in an  interview with John Walsh of Fox's "America's Most Wanted" [http://www.amw.com/...]from 2005. It's truly amazing how that depraved GOP mind works: deflect attention from yourself by accusing others of what you yourself are most guilty of (a page right out of the old Rove playbook). Dante is going to have to have to come back from the dead to invent a whole new circle of hell for this soulless bunch.

If you can stomach it, join me for more mind-blowing quotes after the jump...

BTW I did a quick search and saw no previous references to this interview. If it has already been diaried, I will delete.

2004 Sheehan Video Disproves Drudge's Phoney Allegations

Mon Aug 08, 2005 at 04:42:59 PM PDT

If this has already been diaried, please let me know and I will delete it. I scanned several of the other Sheehan-related diaries but I didn't see this referenced.

Like many others, I first became aware of Cindy Sheehan in September 2004 when I saw her in one of the ads produced by "Real Voices," an advocacy group whose stated purpose was "to engage in a critical campaign to bring home to American voters the true human cost of George Bush's reckless war in Iraq."  In fact, I was so moved by the extraordinary courage and honesty Cindy Sheehan exhibited in the video that I forwarded a link to everyone I knew and asked them to make a contribution to "Real Voices" so that her ad could be widely aired.

The following text accompanied the ads posted on the "Real Voices" website:
"In our extraordinary television spot, "A Mother's Tears", Cindy Sheehan, of Vacaville, CA, talks about her son, Spc. Casey Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq on April 4th, 2004.  The Sheehan family blame George W. Bush for the deceptive campaign that led America into the needless war in Iraq."

Elephant In the Room: Obvious Fix To Social Security

Sun May 01, 2005 at 12:04:45 AM PDT

Seems like no one---neither Republican or Democrat---has the cajones to step up to plate, and talk about one of the most obvious, equitable "fixes" to the Social Security shortfall...Simply make it a rule that those who don't make their fair share of contributions into the system, shouldn't be allowed to take anything out of the system...

Wait...wait...before you troll-rate me, let me clarify that I am not referring to survivor benefits for widows/widowers and orphans, or benefits for the infirm or disabled here...

GOP VOTERJACKING OR "HONEY, I SHRUNK THE VOTE!"

Sun Oct 17, 2004 at 06:10:40 PM PDT

Anyone who watched the Sunday talk shows heard the new meme the GOP is trying to push: "Kerry and Edwards will 'SAY' anything to get elected." (If you want to read Chairman of BC-04 campaign, Ken Mehlman's relevant quotes from his appearance on MTP this morning, I have included them at the bottom of this diary.)

Fortunately, the Dems have great ammunition with which to easily counter this charge---the truth---which is "Bush Cheney will 'DO' anything to get elected." Moreover the Dems have a mountain of evidence to back up their claim.

In just the past few weeks, several high-ranking GOP operatives have been unmasked as the organizational masterminds and/or funding sources behind a series of attempts to suppress or affect voter turnout in several swing states.

We cannot however count on the SCLM to do the right thing and give these stories the widespread media coverage they deserve.

CAMPAIGN 2004: "It's The Flu Shots Stupid"

Fri Oct 15, 2004 at 01:03:03 PM PDT

Wouldja just stop fixating on the spin that "dare not speak it's name." Here in the (albeit liberal) Bay Area we've already moved on to the next big story (and, sorry guys, it's not about Bush lying about OBL, because, let's face it, Bush lying about anything is just not big news anymore...)

THE BIG STORY GETTING ALL THE MEDIA COVERAGE HERE TODAY IS THAT AN ELDERLY WOMAN DIED WAITING IN LINE FOR HER FLU SHOT. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2004/10/15/state1337EDT0064.DTL

The coverage is all about people waiting in long lines since last night, many in their 80's and 90's, waiting to get a flu shot.

BUSH CRONY SPROUL'S BOSS? DIRECT LINK . . .

Wed Oct 13, 2004 at 02:42:28 AM PDT

In an article from January 2004 in the Glendale Star (http://www.glendalestar.com/articles/2004/01/23/news/news02.txt), former Executive Director of the Arizona Republican Party, Nathan Sproul was additionally identified as Regional President of Voyager Learning.

Voyager (www.voyagerlearning.com)is a Dallas-based "learning" company whose primary reason for being is to provide cram courses for kids so they can pass the standardized tests mandated by the "No Child Left Behind" Act. (Not coincidentally, this company was started in Texas in the late 90's---when Bush pushed his education "reforms" through.)

"Bush Ad Surfaces As News Story on Schools

By BEN FELLER, AP Education Writer

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration has promoted its education law with a video that comes across as a news story but fails to make clear the reporter involved was paid with taxpayer money.

BUSH---AMERICA'S EX-HUSBAND

Sat Oct 09, 2004 at 12:44:09 PM PDT

I've got to really hand it to DIGBY'S BLOG, because he got it exactly right today.  This characterization of Bush as abusive, obnoxious ex-husband, ex-boyfriend, or ex-boss--- really resonates with women. I already sent this post to several friends and their response was strong, immediate and overwhelmingly positive, and it deserves a very broad circulation.

SCENES FROM "IT"S A WONDERFUL LIE" STARRING DICK CHENEY

"IT"S A WONDERFUL LIE" STARRING DICK CHENEY

Since it's only early October, I admit that I was a bit surprised (albeit pleasantly) to turn on my TV last night and find the perennial holiday classic, "It's A Wonderful Lie" running on almost every major network, including C-SPAN!  I tuned in just in time to catch one of my very favorite scenes.  It's the one where George Bailey confronts Mr. Potter about how badly things are going with the war, and says to Potter, "You are not being straight with the American people on Iraq."  George continues, pointing out to Potter that the arguments Potter used to justify the invasion of Iraq have proven to be, at best, exaggerated and, at worst, fabricated.  George concludes that there is zero evidence to support any connection between Saddam Hussein and the events of 9/11/2001.  Potter in response, blusters, burbles and blurts out, "I have not suggested there's a connection between Iraq and 9/11" which, of course, we all know is false, because Potter claimed exactly the opposite in several earlier scenes.

I also really loved this scene from a bit later on in the movie . . .

SNL and Farenheit 9/11 Will Cement Voters Negative Post-Debate Impressions of Bush

Sat Oct 02, 2004 at 06:52:37 PM PDT

Over the next several days, I believe that the theme of "Bush as petulant, imperious and incompetent" will be most widely advanced and perpetuated--not by conventional media outlets--but by tonight's inevitable Saturday Night Live parody and Tueday's release of Fahrenheit 9/11 on DVD/VHS.

After all, in 2000, Gore was generally perceived as having won the first debate, until Darrell Hammond skewered him with his unforgettable (and unfortunately `dead-on') eye-rolling, huffing, puffing, orange-tinged portrayal.   If the SNL portrays Bush, as negatively as I suspect they will, this will have a much greater impact on the minds of voters than would running a story on the front page of USA Today or the WSJ, especially with regards to younger voters.  According to a  January 2004 Pew Research Center Report, "Comedy programs are increasingly becoming regular sources of news for younger Americans, and are beginning to rival mainstream news outlets within this generation. Today, 21% of people under age 30 say they regularly learn about the campaign and the candidates from comedy shows like Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show, twice as many as said this four years ago (9%). "

Additionally, the wide release of Farenheit 9/11 will also serve to further cement negative post-debate impressions--especially with "on the fence" swing voters who may now have some doubts about Bush.  Ironically, while the major networks have refused to let Sony run F 9/11 ads during their news programming according to LA Weekly*, Bush's unbecoming behavior in front of an audience of 62.5 million people may have done more to boost sales for the movie than any mere ad could have possible done.
